Ladies Winter Golf
We will be expanding ladies golf this season. Many of the ladies have requested a ladies group that could play during the winter months, just to keep up their friendships and keep their competitive edge. So, we will be playing each Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.
A few of the highlights are listed below:
· Each Tuesday at 10:30 from January 3rd to March 27th - Optional Side
· The Golf Shop will pick from a multitude of formats
· No league fee to play
· Your handicap will be applied to either pair you or to give you your strokes
· The Golf Shop will do all of the pairings and keep up with the winners
· Points will be awarded to the winners each week and then a top percentage of the total participants will be awarded a gift certificate after the last week of play. Check postings in the Golf Shop weekly.
· Cost each week will be $20 including the riding cart for 18 holes; cost each week for walkers will be $4 plus push cart if desired.
· Sign up by phone each week by Monday at 3:00 p.m.
Winter Guest Specials
As we enter the winter golf season, we are excited to offer some new low rates that we hope will allow you the opportunity to enjoy the club with your friends, family, and business associates. This special promotion is good from now until Wednesday, February 29, 2012. All guests playing with a member will pay the guest rate of $45.77 + tax which includes a cart for 18 holes and $27.46 + tax for 9 holes including cart. This special does include weekends! As an added bonus, we will be offering a guest special on Saturdays after 1 p.m. of $27.46 + tax for all the golf you can play until dark. This special includes all Weekday and Executive members.
Windyke will also continue to offer the WWW special. This is the Wild Wednesday at Windyke special, and it will be offered to Windyke Executive members, as well as guests of all members who present their current membership card from one of our local MGA private golf clubs which include Chickasaw, Colonial, Germantown, Irene, Memphis National, Memphis, Ridgeway, Southwind and Spring Creek. The guest fee for these players on Wild Wednesday’s at Windyke through the end of February will be $27.46 + tax, and this fee will include cart as well.
IRONMAN SCRAMBLE
10:30 a.m. - February 18 - West Course
9:00 a.m. Big Country Breakfast
The tournament season begins with our 18th annual IRONMAN TOURNAMENT. The greatest thing about this event is that it is played in Memphis, TN weather. This means that it may be anywhere from 30 to 70 degrees. Don’t sign up if you are a wimp! This event, including women and juniors, is only for the brave hearted. REMEMBER THAT ANY PERSON OR TEAM THAT CANCELS OUT OF THE TOURNAMENT WILL BE ADDED TO THE sissy LIST. Names remain on this list for five years or until the successful completion of a future IRONMAN. With the football season over, there are no acceptable excuses for not playing. So call the Golf Shop and sign up today. We know you will have a great time.
Guidelines are as follows:
· Four Person Handicap Scramble Format
· Make Your Own Team or sign up as an individual and we will pair you.
· All players canceling after February 15 at 5 PM will be charged for the entry fee.
· Guests will be allowed but must provide handicap information and must be approved by Golf Shop
· Each team’s handicap is based on the following formula using a player’s USGA index:
0 and Below = 5 points
0.1 - 4.9 = 4 points
5.0 - 9.9 = 3 points Add up the total points and
10.0 - 14.9 = 2 points subtract from 10. That will
15.0 + = 1 point will be the team handicap.
· If you do not have a full team, we can help you find additional players.
· Entry fee is $100 and includes prizes, covered cart and breakfast (payable by member charge, cash or check.)
Tees: Men – Gold Tees
Men (60-74) – White Tees
Men (75+) – Red Tees
Women and Juniors (12 or Under) with an index of 4.9 or below - Gold Tees
Women and Juniors (12 or Under) with an index of 5.0 - 9.9 – White Tees
Women and Juniors (12 or Under) with an index of 10.0 or more – Red Tees
· Approximate payout will be as follows (based on 120 players):
Low total $1200 per team
2nd Low total $1000 per team
3rd Low total $900 per team
4th Low total $700 per team
Low Front / Low Back $600 per team
2nd Front / 2nd Back $500 per team
3rd Front / 3rd Back $400 per team
Plus individual contests
