Tournaments
Windyke Country Club is committed to providing a wide assortment of exciting golf tournaments for its members. Windyke has all of the standard country club events such as Member-Member, Member-Guest and many more that one would expect plus other great events unique to Windyke. We provide events that cater to all levels of players within the same event with the use of our handicapping and/or flighting system. The Windyke Board of Directors Handicap Committee ensures accurate and timely posting of all tournament participants to protect the integrity of each event.

The tournament season begins with our 18th annual IRONMAN TOURNAMENT. The greatest thing about this event is that it is played in Memphis, TN weather. This means that it may be anywhere from 30 to 70 degrees. Don’t sign up if you are a wimp! This event, including women and juniors, is only for the brave hearted. REMEMBER THAT ANY PERSON OR TEAM THAT CANCELS OUT OF THE TOURNAMENT WILL BE ADDED TO THE sissy LIST. Names remain on this list for five years or until the successful completion of a future IRONMAN. With the football season over, there are no acceptable excuses for not playing. So call the Golf Shop and sign up today. We know you will have a great time.
Guidelines are as follows:
· Four Person Handicap Scramble Format
· Make Your Own Team or sign up as an individual and we will pair you.
· All players canceling after February 15 at 5 PM will be charged for the entry fee.
· Guests will be allowed but must provide handicap information and must be approved by Golf Shop
· Each team’s handicap is based on the following formula using a player’s USGA index:
0 and Below = 5 points
0.1 - 4.9 = 4 points
5.0 - 9.9 = 3 points Add up the total points and
10.0 - 14.9 = 2 points subtract from 10. That will
15.0 + = 1 point will be the team handicap.
· If you do not have a full team, we can help you find additional players.
· Entry fee is $100 and includes prizes, covered cart and breakfast (payable by member charge, cash or check.)
Tees: Men – Gold Tees
Men (60-74) – White Tees
Men (75+) – Red Tees
Women and Juniors (12 or Under) with an index of 4.9 or below - Gold Tees
Women and Juniors (12 or Under) with an index of 5.0 - 9.9 – White Tees
Women and Juniors (12 or Under) with an index of 10.0 or more – Red Tees
· Approximate payout will be as follows (based on 120 players):
Low total $1200 per team
2nd Low total $1000 per team
3rd Low total $900 per team
4th Low total $700 per team

Windyke Cup! - “Tournament Points Race”
Updated Points Standing
The 2012 Windyke Cup season has begun! The first event for the new season was the Turkey Day Scramble. For those who are new to the club or maybe have not been aware of the Windyke Cup it is a season long points race that ultimately crowns an overall Windyke Cup Champion at the end of each golf season. To become the Champion you not only need to play in many of the season’s event but must also consistently place near the top of the leaderboard.
Each event is worth a minimum of 25 points for playing and then worth points for each finishing position. It is our hope that the cup race will continue to make the tournament program here at Windyke that much more interesting.
Listed below are the points awarded for each event and how the points are awarded for finish positions.
Each of these events earns you 25 participation points for your total, regardless of finish place:

Par 3 Open
Each of these events earns you 35 participation points for your total, regardless of finish place:
The Member-Member
The Dykema Invitational
Each of these events earns you 50 participation points for your total, regardless of finish place:
The Member-Guest
The Club Championship
The Senior Club Championship
***Participants who play in the Senior Club Championship will only get participation points for playing in that event. If they then choose to play in the regular club championship they will only be eligible for the earned points for that event.***
The winner in each event will receive 100 points going down by 10 points through 6th place winning 50 points. The points will then go down by 5 points through 11th place winning 25 points. Points will then go down by 1 point until all places are awarded with a guaranteed 1 point for a full field last place finish. Any tie including first place in any event will award Cup points by adding the tied points and dividing by the number of ties and then rounding using standard rounding practices to two decimal places. The Club Championship awards the winner of each match won with 25 points.
Points will be updated after each event and posted in The Clubhouse bar area, the Golf Shop and at windyke.com. Other than the last few men’s night events the final point’s event will be the 2012 Dykema in the fall. The date for the Dykema is pending.
Additionally, Men’s Night participation points may be earned toward the Cup Race of 10 points per week played with a maximum of 100 points for the season, counting toward the Cup Race.
The top 20 players in the Cup Race will receive a bonus gift certificate payout at the year end Champion’s Dinner.
In the event of a tie for first place the players will play an 18 hole handicapped stroke play match to determine first place only. The date and time will be agreed upon after the final points have been earned.
